As a Health and Benefits Associate, you will work beside some of the industry’s top consultants while you progress toward becoming a thought leader of the future. The Role

As a Health and Benefits Associate you will contribute to a wide variety of complex projects involving the design, financing and ongoing management of the full spectrum of health and benefit programs. You will serve as the lead project manager on select projects, interface with vendors and key clients internally and externally, create client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met. You will have the opportunity to significantly grow your health and benefits business acumen as well as your financial, project management and client relationship skills by working on cutting edge projects alongside leaders in the industry.

Performance Objectives:

  • Proactively advise clients and provide superior client service in response to day to day service issues and questions (eligibility, carrier coverage and claims issues, compliance, etc.); identify when escalation is necessary
  • Work with Senior Client Managers and Account Executives to develop project plans, and manage teams to deliver on project goals
  • Prepare for and facilitate client meetings (prepare agendas and materials, coordinate resources, etc.)
  • Understand, articulate and implement key Willis Towers Watson value-added resources
  • Conduct benchmarking studies and other research; provide value added analyses and summaries
  • Contribute to the marketing process including gathering vendor/client information, preparing and analyzing benchmark data and developing RFPs
  • Play a key role in the client open enrollment process including preparing materials and presentations, organizing and conducting employee meetings, proofing contracts and updating accounting/tracking systems
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues and clients regarding data collection and project execution
  • Prepare the first draft of deliverables for review by the consultant
  • Deliver on projects to meet or exceed client expectations
  • Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes
  • Manage completion of reports and administrative actions for clients including Form 5500 filings, policy checking and delivery, monthly reporting of client and carrier information, summary plan descriptions and certificates


  • 2-3 years’ of health and welfare account management experience including some underwriting or analytical experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Prefer some experience dealing with group health and welfare plans gained in a group benefit consulting/brokerage firm or carrier
  • Strong client service orientation with ability to resolve current needs as well as institute new processes to provide long term solutions
  • Strong technical knowledge of health and welfare employee benefit plan design, insurance parameters
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Team player who takes initiative, is resourceful and is self-motivated to continuous learning and development
  • Self-starter; interest in continually challenging oneself and willingness to step outside of one’s comfort zone
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
  • Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), and ability to learn new technologies and recommend new technology solutions
  • State Life and Health license required within 90 days of joining
