Job Description

**We are open to applicants in the following markets to work from our strategic 

Allstate local offices:  Charlotte, NC; Dallas / Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ.  Strong qualified candidates will be given consideration as remote / home-based professionals.**



As Allstate’s Technology Innovation Forward Engineering team, we believe in the ability to compete and thrive in the digital age by quickly responding to market changes and emerging opportunities with innovative business solutions.  We are currently looking to hire an experienced Lead Software Engineer with Java Spring Boot and React experience or similar frameworks.  The individual stepping into this opportunity should possess a passion for building exciting customer experience and driving business results.  This position will be a technical leader responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of enterprise scale solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and implement highly available service solutions. 
  • Lead and contribute to all phases of software development, including design, coding, unit testing, code review, defect correction, deployment planning and production support.
  • Relational database design and normalization.
  • Lead team in ensuring active participation in agile scrum-based ceremonies.
  • Provide expertise on current standards, best practices, and cutting-edge technologies and frameworks.
  • Partner closely with business partners and leaders to help define application requirements and delivery planning.
  • Ensure solution and implementation is customer focused and enables business results.
  • May be required to assist team with story writing during initial design and development phases.
Job Qualifications

Education:

  • College degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or similar field, including a solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals


Experience:

  • Verifiable 5+ years of developing, engineering, and implementing systems at scale as a full-stack engineer using modern frameworks
  • Preferred Java Spring Boot and React experience
  • Demonstrated experience in driving customer and business results
  • Building applications using and normalizing relational databases
  • Knowledge of developing software in different programming languages, and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new languages
  • Strong understanding of computer science concepts, object-oriented design principles 
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications deployed on distributed service platforms is plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development
  • Insurance or Financial industry experience a plus
