The Role



The Regional Construction Claim Director provides technical and strategic leadership in the areas of construction claims, coverage and contract advisory within the assigned region. As a key member of the WTW North America Construction Claims Team, the role supports the value proposition of the WTW North America Construction Practice in delivering best-in-class claim technical and advocacy services to construction clients. In additional to supporting clients and WTW construction teams within the assigned region, the role requires collaboration with other regional construction leaders--including sales/service, broking and safety/risk control.

The Responsibilities



Claims:


  • Manage a book of designated construction clients as the primary Claim Consultant (typically large contractors and excluding workers’ compensation claims)

  • All professional liability claims within the assigned region

  • Technical and strategic resource for clients and colleagues, with particular emphasis on high severity or otherwise critical claims, including all coverage disputes

  • Senior level claim advocacy, including market escalation/negotiation on disputed claims

  • Advisory/Consult on significant court decisions, legislative changes and other developments impacting construction claims within the assigned region.



Coverage:


  • Technical/Jurisdictional resource for North America Construction Broking, including contribution toward insurance coverage specifications

  • Participation in the renewal process on large accounts, including coverage endorsement review/development

  • Advisory/Consult on significant court decisions, legislative changes and other developments impacting construction insurance coverage within the assigned region



Contracts:


  • Technical/Jurisdictional resource for clients and colleagues providing advisory services on contract provisions related to insurance/risk allocation

  • Best Practices/Field Training

  • Advisory/Consult on significant court decisions, legislative changes and other developments impacting construction contractual risk within the assigned region



Sales:


  • Support Regional Construction Leaders and local production teams on new business opportunities, including support of the “technical sale”

  • Engagement on large construction new business opportunities, including all RFP’s

  • Identify and develop consulting opportunities – FACC, ICC and LCC



The Requirements




  • Strong technical knowledge of construction general liability coverage/claims, including construction defect

  • Technical knowledge of professional liability coverage/claims

  • Knowledge of builders risk and or SDI a plus.

  • Technical knowledge of contractual risk allocation unique to construction risk.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Insurance brokerage experience a plus
