Job Description

The Strategic Resource Group (SRG) within Allstate’s Enterprise Business Conduct team is looking for a creative and high-energy attorney or privacy and compliance professional interested in working at the nexus of law, business, technology, data, and consumers. 
The SRG is responsible for embedding the principles and best practices of Allstate’s privacy, ethics, and compliance programs within each strategic initiative at Allstate. The team provides real-time feedback during the ideation and design phases and identifies and implements creative solutions using an agile mindset.
To succeed, this role must work cross-functionally with technology teams, attorneys, compliance professionals, and business leaders throughout the organization to design, establish, and embed enterprise-wide standards and policies for compliance, ethics, and privacy.  

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide strategic initiatives through appropriate enterprise assessments and use those results to inform design and implementation decisions
  • Incorporate privacy by design and ethics by design principles to move initiatives beyond pure compliance requirements
  • Develop relationships with key business partners to integrate with other related processes and create a 360o view of risk 
  • Propose and review improvements to processes, standards, and technology to ensure and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance, privacy, and ethics risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to centralize, govern, and improve privacy preference requests across the enterprise, ensuring compliance requirements are met in a privacy-forward, consumer-friendly manner
  • Develop and mentor other colleagues in both substantive knowledge and consensus-building skills
Job Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of equivalent work experience, with a preference for experience counseling cross-functional projects on privacy, compliance, or ethics issues
  • Education: Preference for JD; At least bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Preference for experience with or knowledge of privacy or compliance controls, protocols, tools, and best practices
  • Preference for IAPP or other privacy or compliance industry certification 


A typical day for an SRG team member might include:

  • Spotting potential risks on a new product and brainstorming creative ideas to mitigate that risk while still driving value for the business
  • Creating written materials that synthesize complex issues into digestible, easy-to-understand summaries
  • Expanding your colleagues’ knowledge and capabilities through best practices research and training
  • Displaying strong customer service by considering the end user experience for individuals exercising their privacy rights
  • Building and managing cross-functional relationships with risk and legal colleagues to enable the launch of a new product or service
  • Working with our Innovation Law colleagues to provide advice to our family of companies that provide services beyond insurance, including identity protection, telematics, car sharing, product protection, and more

Compensation Data

The minimum  starting salary range for the position starts at $75,900  to a maximum of $138,300 (commensurate with experience)

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
