The Role

The Manager Research team assists in driving solutions for our clients by sourcing evaluating, and executing investment opportunities, finding the best asset managers and investment products globally. We have one of the largest teams in the industry with over 100 professionals across the world’s major investment hubs following one global, integrated process. Our expertise is built on a foundation of in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis, combining a thorough understanding of each asset class with the ability to identify skilled investment managers

We currently have an opening for a Researcher, ideally based in either New York City, Stamford, though we will consider candidates in other locations (Atlanta, Chicago, Pittsburgh). This analyst will be a leading member of our North American fixed income team (core / investment grade fixed income) as well as a contributing member of our Alternative Credit research (high yield, bank loans, hedge funds and private credit). The researcher will work collaboratively to source new ideas, produce intellectual capital and market views, monitor managers and support client work. In this role you will gain exposure to the most highly respected credit managers in the world, forming opinions on their ability to consistently generate outperformance, and identify new themes that will impact credit markets. You will become a subject matter expert and be engaged in financial market developments.

The Responsibilities

  • Source, analyze, rate and monitor credit manager investments

  • Produce investment memorandums and contribute to investment committee discussions

  • Research opportunities and produce periodic analysis that support the team’s pipeline

  • Assist with analytics, improving methods as needed, leveraging our central data team

  • Produce research findings internally and externally, supporting WTW’s brand as a thought leader in credit manager investing (white papers, etc.)

  • Assist on client work helping to deliver high quality research advice to internal/external clients

  • Engage in inclusion and diversity manager research as well as sustainability research within fixed income

The Requirements

Knowledge of credit and the North American fixed income universe. Experience with Alternative Credit is a plus, but we will also consider candidates who can showcase relevant complementary experiences, or have the aptitude to learn a new asset class

Self-starter who can balance a varied workload and dynamic role

Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to form an initial opinion on a manager or strategy

Intellectual curiosity to learn new strategies, identify new investment opportunities and themes affecting markets, for example the importance of sustainability and ESG in fixed income

Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills.

Organized and detail-oriented

Strong client service orientation

Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one’s work fits into the broader landscape

Undergraduate degree. Progress in CFA or other professional qualification an advantage
