Allstate is currently looking to hire an experienced Software Engineer to join the Research and Development team. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative applications for a full variety of businesses, from the Agency channel, to the Claims team, to completely new markets.
- Leads the development of applications that test solutions for a business problem or create a new product or service that aligns to our corporate goals.
- Leads and contributes to all phases in building new digital products, including programming, defect correction, unit testing, code review and deployment planning.
- Facilitates a small team using agile development best practices (Scrum/Paired programming).
- Leads a small team through the entire software development lifecycle.
- Application monitoring and support as-needed
- Provides expertise on cutting edge technologies and frameworks.
- Collaborates with non-technical business-side members to define user requirements, investigate feasibility, iteratively build and ultimately present results.
- Provides estimates for the work plan.
- Assists in producing light-weight technical designs.
- Suggests technology-driven features that may enhance the solution.
- 5+ years of hands-on application development experience.
Proficient in full-stack web development using front-end frameworks (ReactJS) and backend frameworks Java (Spring), as well as HTML5 and CSS3.
Demonstrated technical leadership of small teams.
Up to date on web development security standards (OWASP).
Strong understanding for testing methodologies such as unit-testing, functional testing and service-oriented architecture.
1+ years of experience in mobile development IDEs highly preferred.
1+ years of experience applying machine learning (Python) also highly preferred.
Insurance industry experience a plus.
The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
