Job Summary

The Project Management Function is responsible for designing, developing, managing, supporting or leading projects impacting the Claims business as a whole and/or more than one product or channel. Management within the function includes analyzing business results and developing action plans to achieve business objectives; providing direct management to employees in a department or sub-group within the function; participating in performance reviews; coordinating employee schedules and workloads; providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback; and participating in and making recommendations regarding hiring, termination, promotion or demotion.

This job is responsible for leading key, highly complex, or mission-critical projects and initiatives that have countrywide impact for the Claims organization as well as the Allstate Enterprise. The individual is responsible for project results in terms of costs, methods and outcomes, and influences multiple levels of leadership in the organization to execute on key deliverables while collaborating both inside and outside the Claims organization. The individual leads cross-functional teams to achieve project results. The individual also leads and develops a team of analysts and project managers. The individual also delivers compassionate service that is fast, fair, and easy, to ensure customer retention. The individual works independently, prioritizes the individual's own responsibilities, and manages the individual's own workload. The individual consistently meets band level behaviors, production, quality and/or customer service goals.
 

Key Responsibilities

Ensures and enables staff to maintain a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs; serves the customer with empathy; and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met
Manages and resolves escalated customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues 
Reviews customer satisfaction results; develops and directs business unit action plans

Project Management
Leads key, highly complex, or mission-critical initiatives, particularly ones that involve technology changes and require persistent attention and effort to influence and drive forward the end result
Establishes project objectives, timelines, risk analysis, milestones, deliverables, and budgets
Develops business plans, objectives, and initiatives for the enterprise related to project objectives
Leads employees who are in Home Office, on temporary assignments and some who do not have previous project management experience
Oversees and directs daily tasks necessary for successful project execution 
Drives problem solving and issue resolution to ensure task completion by establishing priorities and resolving conflicts with team members and functional managers 
Collaborates with and influences others to drive work through all of the phases of the Allstate Technology process
Oversees and directs the development of large communication packages and detailed reports to leadership; leads meetings to present communications, project status and results
Uses influence and negotiation to convince internal or external contacts to accept proposals and projects where there may be resistance to cooperate or participate
Functions as primary Field resource on project objectives, cost-benefits, and vendor relations
Interacts regularly with senior leaders from throughout the enterprise, including Claims, Technology, Procurement, CTS, Finance, Product, and Human Resources
Creates a productive and supportive work environment of highly engaged employees who create highly satisfied customers
Effectively coaches and provides development/career guidance for direct reports

    Process Design / Improvement
    Leads large strategic process reviews using a detailed process design framework
    Influences work through all the levels of leadership to achieve a quality work product

    Communication / Change Management
    Develops methods to update and modernize traditional top-down communication as employees more and more need access to real time information
    Leads meetings with business users and recommends practical solutions to address business needs
    Partners with other AORs and Technology as needed to present innovative business and technology solutions; influences and gains approval of enhancements or solutions as needed
    Oversees and directs the design of system functionality; secures approval of senior-level management for wide-ranging solutions
    Leads meetings involving all parties with a vested interest in the solution to provide status and brainstorm solutions to roadblocks
     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

     

    Bachelors degree in related field preferred
    Ability to interact effectively, and coach others on interacting effectively, with internal or external customers and act with empathy
    Applies highly advanced knowledge of claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, coverage, liability, damage estimating, and/or settlement, and adherence to applicable legal compliance standards
    Applies highly advanced industry knowledge to discipline practices, including best practices, to support the business unit
    Applies highly advanced knowledge of analytical procedures to reconcile, manipulate, and recognize patterns of data
    Applies highly advanced knowledge of problem solving and preparation of complex reports for analysis
    Applies highly advanced conflict management and problem resolution skills in managing internal and external customer relationships
    Applies highly advanced problem solving skills to continuously improve business outcomes
    Ability to assist leadership in achieving business unit objectives
    Applies highly advanced knowledge of training facilitation and coaching skills
    Applies highly advanced skill in motivation, organization, training, coaching and facilitation of teamwork
     

    Compensation Data

    Compensation range for this position is $91,800 to $159,300 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Other compensation includes AIP bonus.

    The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
