The Role

As a Health and Benefits Actuarial Analyst, you will be at the forefront of supporting large, complex clients and leveraging your actuarial expertise to support clients with a range of projects including plan designs evaluation, premium setting, innovative offerings, and a full array of health and benefit programs. You will interface with vendors and key clients (both internal and external), create client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.   • As an Actuarial Analyst, you will consult on a wide variety of complex projects involving the design, pricing, funding, implementation, and management primarily for medical benefits

  • Perform financial analyses including developing pricing and employee contributions strategies, modelling plan design alternatives, actuarial valuations and IBNP Analysis

  • Conduct benchmarking studies and other market research; provide value added analyses and summaries

  • Analyze and compare vendor products, services and contracts that have a financial impact to assigned clients

  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional lines of business

  • Contribute to the development of new intellectual capital

The Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience dealing with the financials of health and benefit plans, ideally gained in a benefit consulting/brokerage firm or health underwriting / actuarial function of an insurance company

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and produce quality deliverables on time and within budget

  • Flexibility and proven ability to identify and resolve issues

  • Strong client service orientation and ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work individually and as part of a team

  • Strong analytical, creative, and integrative skills

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint

  • State Life and Health license required within 90 days of joining

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with significant quantitative course work

  • Some progress towards completion of health actuarial designation

  • Desire to learn, accept new challenges, and have fun
