We are seeking a Senior Associate - Real Estate Equity to support senior investment professionals and direct junior staff in the underwriting, analysis and execution of real estate transactions as well as asset management. The real estate investment portfolio consists of direct real estate assets, joint ventures, co-investments and funds. Responsibilities will be diverse in terms of property type, including industrial, multifamily, niche, office and retail and are geographically dispersed nationwide. The position is based in Chicago, IL and will be in the office 2-4 days per week.
Direct the underwriting, analysis and execution of real estate transactions;
Identify strengths and weaknesses of proposed transactions;
Primary drafting of investment recommendations and other internal presentations and memoranda. Responsible for presenting such material to internal stakeholders;
Responsible for performing, and/or directing junior staff, in property valuations, asset management reviews, annual budgets and business plans;
Coordination of the closing of related transactions including extensive interaction with accounting, legal, and partners/advisors;
Assist and/or lead conference calls and meetings in support of the origination, underwriting and on-going management of investments;
Stay informed of current industry and market trends;
Assist in special projects from time to time that support the team;
Other duties as may be assigned
Limited travel will be required
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate or Finance. MBA, CFA, or in process a desired but not required;
5 – 7+ years experience in commercial real estate analysis; Direct experience in real estate acquisitions is required.
The successful candidate will have:
Advanced/superior analytical and financial modeling skills, with an emphasis on the ability to translate analytical observations into supportable conclusions;
Advanced verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate investment thesis in a balanced and concise manor;
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with a wide variety of internal constituents as well as effectively represent Allstate to external stakeholders;
Detail oriented with a commitment to high quality work product;
Ability to think independently and assist in presenting a viewpoint in a thoughtful and professional manner;
Strong organizational skills – ability to perform tasks and achieve results; independently and as part of a team, consistently meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple assignments effectively in a dynamic work environment;
Advanced Excel experience. Proficient in ARGUS, Word and PowerPoint.
