Job Summary:

Position:  ENT-Software Engineer (Chicago, Illinois)
Duties: Develops the technological foundation on which the company’s platform is built. Facilitates the Development and deployment of Full-stack large, complex, and strategic software applications using company and industry defined standards and practices. Builds the new Intelligent Capabilities by creating SOAP and REST web services that provide insurance agents and consumers with a business process that contributes to Transformative Growth Initiatives within Allstate. Develops responsive designed applications (mobile first mentality). Designs Business Process Orchestration Specifications applications in a variety of iterations. Participates in product scoping, discovery, and framing. Creates proof of concept implementations and inceptions. Collaborate with Product Manager and partner Principal Engineers to engage in discovery/test and learn activities to quickly validate concepts as appropriate for backlog investments. Provides technical input and translates user features into system design. Leads and participates in inceptions and iteration planning meetings, infusing backlogs with technical input working in close partnership with the product manager. Leads and participates in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups. Leads the effort of shaping the architecture and design of new applications. Serves as the anchor of the team and practices technical leadership; helping guide the team in choosing the right technology, solving technical problems, and resolving any technical conflicts within the team. Leads collaboration and strategy alignment across product portfolios (cross-product) in partnership with product managers, peers, and key stakeholders. Serves as an expert on multiple business domains that include multiple technology stacks. Guides the team in choosing the right technology, solves technical problems, and resolves any technical conflicts within the team. Coaches the team and leads daily practices of using paired programming and test-driven development in writing software and building products. Establishes continuous integration, delivery, and deployment pipelines and practices. Participates and helps with Solution Design and Design Review with architects.

Requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related field (or foreign educational equivalent) plus three years of experience architecting, designing, implementing, and delivering large-scale distributed systems and applications in an insurance domain or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five years of experience architecting, designing, implementing, and delivering large-scale distributed systems and applications in an insurance domain.

Specific skills/other requirements: Demonstrated expertise in responsive web portal front-end application development using modular JavaScript including apps targeted for mobile devices; Demonstrated expertise developing web services using REST, SOAP, JSON, or ETL jobs; Demonstrated expertise using JavaScript frameworks for front end development; Demonstrated Experience (DE) developing software in an Agile environment using Test Driven Development (TDD); and Demonstrated expertise developing Proof of Concepts and engaging in discovery, test and learn activities.

Compensation offered for this role is $114,899.00 and is based on experience and qualifications.
