The Custom Data Analytics team sits within WTW’s Rewards Data Intelligence (RDI) group of the Work & Rewards practice. RDI is a global center of excellence for work and rewards information. RDI is the pre-eminent source of decision-quality market data. RDI conducts surveys covering human capital matters in approximately 100 countries on six continents. Our survey participants represent more than 27,000 organizations - local and multinational companies across all major industry sectors – that provide pay, benefits, and broader rewards and HR market practices covering more than eight million incumbents worldwide. Our rigorous data processes and the depth of our databases enable us to deliver market leading data intelligence that is high-quality, robust, and based on globally consistent reporting practices.

The Role

As a specialist, you will have the opportunity to work on custom analytics and niche custom studies to help clients make intelligent, informed decisions that address their human capital challenges and enable change. At the same time, you will be learning about broad-based and executive pay, incentives, broader reward and talent practices, and organization design across industry sectors. Throughout, you will be honing your analytical and technical skill sets and your project and client management competencies.

Our clients are both internal colleagues in Work and Rewards and clients directly. We work primarily with the Fortune 500 across all industries. Our custom data analytics projects range in scale and scope from specific stand-alone requests and solutions to complex data analytics and insights underpinning engagements spanning the Work and Rewards practice. Our custom studies and pulse surveys are tailored to our clients’ objectives, and the data and insights derived from both provide information that clients need in support of their business strategies and talent priorities. Each of our projects whether large or small requires agility, flexibility, and innovative thinking resulting in tailored versus force-fit solutions.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following, based on clients’ needs:

  • Peer group development to serve as the foundation for custom analytics

  • Data analyses of compensation levels and practices using our market-leading compensation surveys and platforms

  • Industry, revenue-size adjusted and peer group analytics, and development of summary statistics and regression-based data analytics

  • Workforce analytics including titling practices, prevalence analyses, and reporting relationships

  • Organizational market scans including headcount distributions by employee level and/or function; prevalence of jobs/levels; manager to individual contributor ratios; and compensation cost allocation across employee categories and work areas

  • Year-over-year market movements, constant company/incumbent analytics, and market pay differentials by geographic area

  • Review of annual and long-term incentive eligibility, receivership, levels, mix, trendlines and design practices

  • Partnering with the team and clients to conduct niche, client-sponsored custom studies including outreach, design and data collection, data validation and analysis, and results and report out

  • Performing competitive reviews of client reward program levels and practices versus peers / industry / market

  • Developing exhibits and documents presenting the results of your analytics, including observations and trends, and communicating findings to client audiences

The Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics or any other major with quantitative course work

  • 1-2 years of corporate experience (full-time positions, internships, part-time positions or other education and related experience acceptable); HR experience a plus

  • Quantitative and qualitatively oriented with proven analytical and technical skills and attention to detail

  • Passion for solving problems, exchanging ideas, and sharing solutions to improve efficiencies and enhance the quality of work product

  • Interest in the field of human capital as demonstrated through work experiences, coursework, research assignments, etc.

  • Resourceful with the ability to be a self-starter and work independently, but also collaboratively in a team environment, with minimal guidance and supervision

  • Demonstration of collaboration, independent thinking, operational and professional excellence, innovative mindset, and strong team and client orientation

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
