MeyersDining, CBIZ
Cleveland, Ohio-based employee benefits and accounting services firm CBIZ, Inc. has acquired MeyersDining, LLC, an insurance agency located in Boulder, Colorado.
Founded in 2005 with the merger of firms owned by Gary Meyers and Elizabeth Dining, MeyersDining is a personal and commercial benefits and property/casualty insurance agency. MeyersDining has 14 employees and recorded $2.3 million in revenue during the past 12 months, according to CBIZ.
Meyers and Dining will join CBIZ.
Steven L. Gerard, CBIZ chairman and CEO, said the acquisition will expand the CBIZ footprint in Boulder and Denver.
CBIZ provides accounting and tax, internal audit, merger and acquisition advisory, and valuation servcies. Its employee services include group benefits, property and casualty insurance, payroll, human resources consulting and wealth management. It has 140 company offices in 36 states.
Clearside
A new managing general agency named ClearSide General has opened in California, specializing in personal lines automobile programs.
ClearSide is being led by CEO Byron Storms, formerly executive director for Farmers Insurance; vice president of operations Denise Pavlov, formerly vice president of underwriting at the California State Automobile Association, and vice president of marketing Torry Conroy, a marketing professional with over 20 years industry experience, among others.
Ironshore
Specialty insurer Ironshore Inc. will be expanding its distribution network by establishing regional offices throughout the U.S.
Steven England has been appointed executive vice president of Ironshore Insurance Services, responsible for overseeing Ironshore’s U.S. Field Operations.
Ironshore Insurance Services has opened offices in geographic markets to work with retail brokers on a regional basis.
Ironshore Insurance Services also named new regional executives to lead its efforts in the following regional territories: David Rogers, Midwest (Chicago); Bob Newmarker, Northeast (Boston); Kevin Fee, Mid-Atlantic (Philadelphia); Ron Gleason, South Central (Houston); Wade Pitman, Southwest (Los Angeles); Michael Gill, Gulf Coast (New Orleans).
“Ironshore is expanding its distribution capabilities for retail partners to access Ironshore’s property and casualty capabilities as we continue to build on our success in meeting the needs of insureds and brokers,” said England.
England, who joined Ironshore in December 2008, will continue to manage the wholesale office based in St. Louis, Mo., which will now market under the name Ironshore Risk Agency.
Ebix, E-ZData
Insurance software firm Ebix, Inc. has acquired California-based E-Z Data, Inc.
E-Z Data’s Web-basd agency management, practice management, and customer relations software.
Robin Raina, chairman, president and CEO of Ebix, called the deal one of his company’s “most strategic acquisitions since this will provide us access to a majority of the life and annuity brokers’ desktop in the United States.”
Ebix, Inc. provides software and services for all entities involved in the insurance industry.
Woodruff-Sawyer, Carpenter Moore
California insurance agency Woodruff-Sawyer & Co. has acquired the Western region direct practice of Carpenter Moore from NASDAQ OMX Group Inc.
The Western region direct practice, based in San Francisco, encompasses its established directors and officers insurance business with more than 60 clients based primarily on the West Coast. This combination of Woodruff-Sawyer and the Western region practice does not include Carpenter Moore’s Eastern region practice, based in New York.
Terms were not disclosed.
As part of the transaction, Susan Miner of Carpenter Moore will join the firm as a senior director in its Corporate and Executive Protection Practice. Miner, an executive liability expert and a 20-year industry veteran, will reunite with former Carpenter Moore executives Lauri Floresca and Norman Allen, who joined Woodruff-Sawyer last month.
