Turner Barker, Clark Insurance

Turner Barker Insurance, previously a subsidiary of Gorham Savings Bank, has completed its merger transaction with Clark Insurance. Both agencies are based in Portland, Maine. The deal was first announced in April.

Under the deal, Turner Barker will retain its name but will operate as “A Clark Insurance Agency.”

Clark Insurance will remain an employee-owned, independent insurance agency, with Gorham Savings Bank having a minority interest in the combined agencies. Christopher Emmons, president and CEO of Gorham Savings Bank, will join the board of Clark Insurance. Turner Barker was founded in 1908 and purchased by Gorham Savings Bank in 2001. Clark Insurance was established in 1931.

The combined agencies have approximately 100 employees in offices throughout southern Maine as well as in Manchester, N.H., offering services for personal, business, employee benefits, life and health insurance.

CBIZ, Associated Insurance Agents

CBIZ Inc. has acquired Associated Insurance Agents (AIA) of Minneapolis.

Established in 1982, AIA is an insurance brokerage agency specializing in property and casualty insurance, personal lines, and health and benefit insurance for clients primarily in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

With 32 associates and $3.8 million in revenue in the past 12 months, AIA has developed a reputation as specialists in the auto service, banking and construction industries.

AIA was selected as the “2011 Agency of the Year” by the Minnesota Independent Insurance Agent and Brokers Association. This recognition was awarded to AIA for its commitment to establishing and maintaining relationships of mutual trust, quality products and service, as well as its dedication to their customers and local communities.

CBIZ provides professional business services that are designed to help clients better manage their finances and employees. CBIZ provides its clients with financial services including accounting, tax and consulting, internal audit, merger and acquisition advisory and valuation services.

Employee services include employee benefits consulting, property and casualty insurance, retirement plan consulting, payroll, life insurance, HR consulting, and executive recruitment.

CBIZ also provides outsourced technology staffing and support services, real estate consulting services, health care consulting, and medical practice management.

Confie Seguros, Texas State Low Cost Insurance

Confie Seguros, a national provider of personal lines insurance, has acquired Texas State Low Cost Insurance Agency of Austin, expanding the company’s network beyond its locations in San Antonio and Houston.

Texas State Low Cost Insurance was founded by Hal and Reba Cooper in 1978. Michael Morris joined the firm in 1993 and took over as CEO/president in 2000. The company has a strong footprint on the fast growing Texas I-35 corridor, as well as in east and west Texas. The company offers personal and commercial insurance from 43 locations.

Morris will continue as president of sales, and Kelly Myers will continue as general manager.

Confie Seguros expects to complete a number of transactions in the second half of 2013 as it continues to build its national presence. Established in 2008, Confie Seguros has built a national portfolio ofregional auto insurance brokerages.
