Michigan-based J.M. Wilson recently announced three new staff members, Danielle Crandell, Eric Maus and Jeanne Callan.

Crandell was hired as a transportation underwriter. She will service commercial trucking accounts for customers in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. She will also work on business and public auto accounts for our Ohio agents.

Prior to joining J.M. Wilson, Crandell worked at Schneider Insurance Agency as a commercial account manager. She has 14 years of customer service experience and 7 years of agency experience.

Eric Maus was also hired as a transportation underwriter. He will service commercial trucking accounts, as well as business and public auto accounts.

Maus has previous commercial transportation experience, working as a transportation underwriter at Sentry Insurance. Prior to joining the insurance industry, he was a real estate agent for Wisconsin Lakes Realty.

Jeanne Callan was hired as the Arlington Heights, Ill., branch manager. Callan will oversee the staff and day-to-day operations of the Arlington Heights office. She is a 21-year veteran of the insurance industry.

Prior to joining J.M. Wilson, Callan worked for Horton Insurance Agency for 16 years. During the previous two years she was a senior consultant at an insurance consulting firm.

Stephanie Dew has been promoted to vice president of marketing for Rural Special Districts Insurance Services. Dew has served as marketing director for the past three years. Prior to that appointment, she served as account manager at Willis of Arizona Inc. and as a public entity underwriter with KEMPES.

Lockton Companies has added Rob Livingston to its Chicago brokerage team as senior vice president and producer for all property and casualty lines.

Livingston brings to Lockton 16 years of experience providing risk management solutions to a diverse range of industries such as technology, manufacturing, health care, amusement parks and higher education. At Lockton, he will use this depth of knowledge and experience to work with the brokerage’s middle- to large-market client organizations.

Prior to joining Lockton, Livingston was a senior vice president at Aon Risk Services. While there, he was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the company’s property and casualty clients. Additionally, he was frequently recognized as a member of the company’s Excellence Roundtable for top sales performance. Prior to Aon, Livingston was with broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Company.

Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Burns & Wilcox announced that Hariett Rose has rejoined the company as a commercial underwriting manager at its Cleveland, Ohio, office.

Rose first started at Burns & Wilcox in 1997 as a senior underwriter. Most recently, she worked at United States Excess & Surplus Lines as a broker.

Rose has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and holds a license in surplus lines.

The Association of Professional Insurance Women has named Rebecca C. Amoroso as its Insurance Woman of the Year.

Amoroso is vice chairman and U.S. Insurance Industry Group Leader at Deloitte, where she has worked for 22 years. Her first eight years in the insurance industry were spent with American International Group and Insurance Services Office.

At Deloitte, she oversees over 2,000 insurance practitioners in more than 50 cities across the United States and sits on the steering committee of Deloitte’s Women’s Initiative.

Amoroso is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She has previously been honored as one of the Top 50 Hispanic Women in Business, and Working Mother magazine has named her one of its top 10 corporate multicultural women.

The Insurance Woman of the Year Award, first presented in 1976, recognizes exceptional women who have achieved prominence in their profession and have made.

The Progressive Corp. has named Larry Bloomenkranz as chief marketing officer.

Bloomenkranz joins Progressive from United Parcel Service, which he joined in 1989 as international advertising manager. He went on to become director of International Brand Communications before assuming the position of vice president of Brand Management, Advertising and Sponsorships.

In that role, he was responsible for global brand strategy, identity and advertising, as well as enterprise-wide sponsorships and events.

His position is effective April 28.

Vincent A. Alba, vice president of MRW Group Inc. in Huntington, New York, has been given the Barney Burns Award by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America.

The award recognizes the insurance agent or broker who makes the most significant impact on fund-raising efforts for InsurPac, IIABA’s federal political action committee. The award is named for the founder of the group’s political action committee.

The group says contributions to the PAC have doubled during Alba’s tenure as New York’s InsurPac committee chair for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York.

The Long Island agent — a former Marine who began his insurance career in 1946, and opened his own agency in 1969 — is no stranger to awards.

The Independent Insurance Agents Association of Suffolk County named a significant honor after him: the Vincent A. Alba Lifetime Achievement Award.

He has also received numerous awards from IIABNY, the Downstate Insurance Association Council, and the Tri-County Independent Insurance Agents Association, which named him Insurance Person of the Year in 2007.
