Union General Insurance Services

Union General Insurance Services of Concord, Calif., opened a Southern California branch office to enhance its service and marketing capabilities to retail producers.

The operation will be staffed by Marlena Black, who comes to Union General with more than 15 years of experience in the marketing field.

Brown & Brown, Rogers & Norman

Brown & Brown Inc. acquired the assets of Seattle-based Rogers & Norman Inc.

Established in 1956, and with annual revenues of approximately $3.2 million, Rogers & Norman offers insurance products and services to businesses and individuals throughout the greater Seattle metropolitan area. The Rogers & Norman team will initially remain at their current location in downtown Seattle but eventually will join the existing downtown Seattle office of Brown & Brown of Washington Inc., under the leadership of Eric Anderson.

Brown & Brown, through its subsidiaries, offers insurance and reinsurance products and related services.

Western National, Umialik Insurance

Western National Insurance Group of Edina, Minn., signed a definitive agreement for the purchase of 100 percent of the stock of Anchorage, Alaska-based Umialik Insurance Co. from UkpeaÄ¡vik Iñupiat Corp. The purchase is subject to the completion of due diligence, approval by Western National Mutual’s board of directors, and regulatory authorities. A final closing is expected before year-end.

Umialik Insurance will continue to operate locally in Alaska as a separate entity writing personal and commercial lines, under the management and control of Western National and with its financial support.

Western National Insurance Group is a super-regional property/casualty insurance group that writes more than $240 million in direct premium in 10 states. The group consists of five active companies (Western National Mutual Insurance Co., Western National Assurance Co., Pioneer Specialty Insurance Co., Titan Property & Casualty Insurance Co., and Wisconsin American Mutual Insurance Co.) serving personal and commercial customers in the Midwest, Northwest, and Southwest. All of the group’s products are sold exclusively through professional independent agents.
