Louisiana Insurance Producer, Adjuster Licensing Changes Begin Jan. 1

November 20, 2017

The Louisiana Department of Insurance has issued a reminder that producer and adjuster license renewals are changing in 2018.

Beginning in January, producers will file a single license renewal, which will renew all eligible lines on the license. Licensees will no longer renew in an even or odd year based on the lines of authority on the license.

The renewal date will continue to be based on the last day of the birth month but the renewal year will be determined by the license number. Licenses with even numbers licenses will renew in even years. Licensees with odd numbered licenses will renew in odd years. The renewal of the license will renew all lines eligible for renewal on the license.

Adjuster Renewals

Currently, all adjuster licenses renew in odd years. Individual licensees will continue to renew on the last day of the birth month but the license number will determine the renewal year. Licenses with even numbers licenses will renew in even years. Licensees with odd numbered licenses will renew in odd years.

Business Entity Renewals

The license renewals for both producer and claims adjuster business entities are also changing. The renewal date for both producer and adjuster entities will move from April 30 to March 31 in an even or odd year based on license number.

Exception: licenses held for portable electronics will not have a change in renewal dates. The renewal date will remain as Dec. 31 in odd years.
