15 Things Young Agents Like Least

  1. The way our industry and the persona of an insurance agent is portrayed by the public.
  2. I find the amount of inefficient methods for quoting and maintaining policies to be lazy and agitating.
  3. Constantly having to deliver bad news as the markets keep hardening.
  4. Competing with petty and unethical salespeople.
  5. Finding talent.
  6. Being independent is advantageous in almost every way, except that you don’t have the brand name of a State Farm or Liberty Mutual or Farmers.
  7. Antiquated technologies.
  8. The age gap: I am 23 years old so sometimes people will not want me take over their account.
  9. The slow-pace of antiquated systems in obtaining quotes, proposals and binding.
  10. I really don’t like that carriers are trying to save a few dollars and undercut the agents.
  11. Access to resources.
  12. Work life balance as a producer can be difficult.
  13. Lack of support from carriers.
  14. Perception of the insurance industry.
  15. The first three years are the hardest.
