Encinitas, Calif. Man Accused of WC Fraud and Grand Theft

James Charles Isbell, 38, of Encinitas, Calif., was charged with seven counts of insurance fraud and one count of grand theft.

According to investigators from the California Department of Insurance (CDI)Criminal Investigations Branch’s Fraud Division, Isbell was observed on videotape doing physical activities that he claimed he was unable to do during medical evaluations. Isbell also allegedly provided false statements to doctors and Sentry Insurance, indicating he was temporarily totally disabled.

Isbell received more than $7,300 in benefits fraudulently. Sentry Insurance’s potential loss on this claim could have exceeded $30,000.
