Chicago-based Aon Corp. reported that David P. Bolger, executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer, will leave the company after the appointment of his successor. Bolger will remain with Aon while a search for his successor is conducted and for a period of time following the appointment of a successor in order to ensure an orderly transition, an Aon spokesman told Insurance Journal. The company is commencing a search for a new chief financial officer immediately.

Bolger, 49, joined Aon in January 2003. Prior to joining Aon, he served in various senior positions in Bank One Corp. and its predecessor companies, including American National Bank and First Chicago Corp.

The Professional Insurance Agents of Indiana Inc.(PIA) announced its annual awards on May 10 at the 2007 PIA of Indiana Annual Convention. Each year, PIA of Indiana honors two individuals and one company for exemplary professionalism and dedication to the insurance industry.

PIA of Indiana presented the following three awards: Paul Sites, North Manchester, Ind., as the Professional Agent of the Year, and David Moore, Indianapolis, Ind., as Company Representative of the Year. Standard Mutual Insurance Co. was given the Company Award of Excellence.

Additional details on the awards and award winners are as follows:

PIA of Indiana Ralph Cleveland Professional Agent of the Year Award, which was named for a past-president of PIA who dedicated himself to professionalism and community service, was presented to Paul Sites of North Manchester. Sites is president of Sites Insurance in North Manchester. He is a past-president of PIA and continues to serve on the board.

The PIA of Indiana Company Representative of the Year Award is presented to an insurance company field representative who strives to make improvements to the insurance industry, demonstrates a strong support of the independent agency system and has made positive contributions to assisting agents serve their customers’ needs.

Award winner Moore is an agency advisor at Standard Mutual Insurance Co., working out of its Indianapolis office. Moore serves agencies in the southern half of Indiana, offering expertise on market conditions and technical policy assistance. Recently, he began presenting an emergency contact program, helping agents provide a new critical service to their clients when they need it most.

PIA of Indiana Company Award of Excellence was presented to Standard Mutual Insurance Co. to recognize the company’s dedication to building strong relationships with independent agents and its commitment to supporting the independent agency system. Mark O. Roberts, Jr., president of Standard Mutual Insurance, accepted the award.

Laura Dunne was appointed to lead the finance and strategy team of Encompass Insurance Co., Northbrook, Ill., the company recently announced. Encompass is the independent insurance agency division of the Allstate Group.

Dunne joined Allstate in 1995 in finance and planning, leading the corporate strategy team. She has held leadership positions in Allstate marketing, where she was responsible for strategy and database marketing, and in Allstate protection finance, where she led the company’s protection strategy development. Previously Dunne held positions in treasury and corporate finance at Sears, Roebuck and Co., FMC Corp. and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Wisconsin-based Insurance Services Inc., recently named Mike Harrison as executive vice president. Based at R&R Insurance Services’ headquarters location in Waukesha, Harrison will be directly involved with the placement of middle market accounts for business throughout the state.

Harrison held previous positions with Wausau Insurance and Sentry Insurance, including multi-line commercial underwriter and director of Commercial Accounts. Most recently, Harrison was regional vice president of Underwriting and Distribution at Wausau Insurance, where he managed appointed agencies in 14 states.

United Fire & Casualty Co. has named Randy Ramlo as its new president and chief executive officer.

Ramlo most recently served as the Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based insurance company’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. He was elected president and CEO at a board meeting following the annual shareholders meeting.

He succeeds John A. Rife, who retired but will remain chairman of the company’s United Life Insurance subsidiary and a member of the board.

Countrywide Insurance Group named insurance industry veteran Steve Cardinal as president and chief operating officer of Countrywide Insurance Services. As a member of Countrywide Insurance Group’s executive team, Cardinal will oversee all aspects of Countrywide Insurance Services, a full-service agency that offers homeowners, auto insurance, renters, personal umbrella, and life insurance products to consumers and makes available a wide variety of commercial insurance products and services to businesses.

Cardinal will spearhead new efforts to hire agents in branches and call centers in an agency expansion that will expand access to Countrywide Insurance Group’s products and services to businesses and general consumers across the country. Prior to joining Countrywide Insurance Group, Cardinal was with Allstate Insurance Co.

Brown Smith Wallace LLChas hired Michael Bowlan as director of marketing. In his new position, Bowlan will oversee all branding, creative development and marketing strategy for the St. Louis, Mo.-based CPA and business consulting firm.

Brown Smith Wallace said Bowlan has 30 years of marketing experience for professional services firms with a special focus on business development, branding and marketing communications. He moved to St. Louis from Pennsylvania where most recently he was the director of marketing and new business development for Accume Partners.
