Joseph Tracy has been named president of Travelers Inland Marine business unit. Tracy, who joined Travelers in 2006, most recently served as chief underwriting officer for the Inland Marine business unit.

Prior to joining Travelers, Tracy was the head of OneBeacon Insurance’s Inland Marine operations. He also has held positions with the Chubb Group of Insurance Cos. and Kemper Insurance Cos.

Tracy succeeds Richard Rowley, who founded Travelers Inland Marine in 1982. Rowley will continue as a senior adviser with the organization.

Insurance broker Rutherfoord has appointed Robert A. Yarbrough to its Atlanta office. Yarbrough will serve as vice president, surety manager, and will oversee the surety business for the Atlanta office.

Yarbrough is a former vice president for BB&T Insurance and has 17 years of surety and business development experience.

Virginia-based Rutherfoord has also added David T. Peterson to its Raleigh, North Carolina office. Peterson will serve as division manager, providing direct oversight and responsibility for the growth and success of the Raleigh office.

Peterson is a former executive vice president with the Hylant Group, and has 20 years of experience in the commercial insurance brokerage industry.

Rutherfoord ranks 11th in the Insurance Journal Top 100 listing of the nation’s largest privately held brokers.

Michigan-based managing general agency J.M. Wilson has added Debbie Martinez as Sales and Underwriting manager for its southern regional office in Charleston, South Carolina. Martinez will be responsible for developing relationships and growing J.M. Wilson’s presence in the South. With access to Colony and Northland Insurance Co. for commercial trucking, business auto and public auto accounts, she will help agents write business in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida.

Martinez joins J.M. Wilson with nearly 20 years in the insurance industry. She has worked as a commercial transportation underwriter for another MGA.

Insurance broker Lockton has created a single Southeast group which combines the insurance brokerage and consulting operations of its suburban Miami and Atlanta offices. Doug Hutcherson will lead the executive team at Lockton Southeast as president. Stan Shaffer has been named chief operating officer.

Other senior executives at Lockton Southeast are executive vice presidents Neil Metzheiser, Philip Holley, Wayne Soud and Sean Lyons.

Bermuda-based specialty insurer Ironshore Inc. has appointed Anthony Mammolite as executive vice president of its U.S. Property unit. Mammolite, who will be based in New York, will oversee strategy for the unit, which focuses on broker-sourced specialty commercial business.

He has more than 35 years of experience in underwriting and field marketing, including over 20 years in property lines. Mammolite most recently served as senior vice president of Property for Lexington Insurance Co. Prior to that, he held various senior level management positions for AIG in the greater New York region.

Eight employees from Jacksonville, Fla.-based The Main Street America Group received the company’s highest honor when they were recently inducted into its Circle of Excellence. The winners were selected for their individual efforts in going “above and beyond” while helping the super regional property/casualty insurance carrier succeed in 2008. Last year, the company achieved a 94.9 combined ratio, one of its best ever, leading to a $43.6 million underwriting profit, the largest in Main Street America’s 85-year history.

MacNeill Group Inc. promoted Kevin M. Tromer to president. Tromer succeeds Douglas W. Bullington who continues in his current position of CEO of Focus Holdings LLC, MacNeill Group’s parent company. Tromer is just the fifth person to serve as president in the 63-year history of MacNeill and assumes this role in addition to his position as chief operating officer of Focus Holdings.

Tromer joined MacNeill in 1996 and most recently served as the executive vice president responsible for the management of daily operations. Prior to that he served as senior vice president from 2003 to 2006 and as vice president from 2000 to 2003 responsible for new programs and information technology initiatives. He entered the insurance industry several years before joining MacNeill following successful stints in several areas of the automobile finance industry.
