Dallas-based Sleeper Sewell Insurance Services Inc. announced that Von Breaux is now responsible for leading the company as part of his duties as recently named president and CEO of ANBTX Insurance Services Inc.
Sleeper Sewell is one of the operating divisions of ANBTX Insurance Services. Breaux began his new position on May 18.
William E. Sleeper, former president and CEO of Sleeper Sewell, has been named vice chairman of ANBTX Insurance Services.
Breaux comes to Sleeper Sewell from Guaranty Insurance Services, where he served as executive vice president. He brings to Sleeper Sewell more than 20 years of experience in the industry, holding executive positions in areas such as sales management, risk management and corporate operations.
Founded in 1962 by Dwight Sleeper, Sleeper Sewell Insurance Services Inc. is a division of ANBTX Insurance Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of American National Bank of Texas.
Medical liability insurer ProMutual Group appointed Gregg L. Hanson chief operating officer. Hanson previously served as the company’s senior vice president of Underwriting and also supervised the Marketing, Risk Management and Physician Education departments.
In his new capacity, Hanson will oversee the company’s claims, information technology and human resources operations in addition to his current responsibilities.
Prior to joining ProMutual Group in 2000, Hanson was senior vice president of Southern Operations and Underwriting for ProNational Insurance Co. Past positions include numerous executive positions with St. Paul Insurance Co., which encompassed underwriting and marketing, as well as overall operational management.
Teresa Long was named director of Agency Services for the Institute of WorkComp Professionals (IWCP), a national network of workers’ compensation professionals. Long will be working with IWCP member insurance agencies and their workers’ compensation claims processing and injury management procedures, helping agencies arrange medical clinic relationships, developing back-to-work programs, conducting seminars for employers and providing training for the IWCP’s nearly 1,000 Certified WorkComp Advisors.
Long was most recently vice president of Risk Management for Sarasota, Fla.-based Unisource Administrators Inc., a managing general agent and third party claims administrator, where she was responsible for client services.
The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big “I”) awarded the 2008 Sidney O. Smith Award to Bobby Bramlett, president and CEO of The Bramlett Agency in Ardmore, Okla.
The award is the association’s highest individual government affairs honor. The Sidney O. Smith Award is bestowed annually by the Big “I” and the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia upon an individual agent or broker for outstanding service to his or her peers and the national association in the field of government affairs. It is named in honor of an IIABA past president and Georgia agent who was instrumental in focusing the association and its members on legislative advocacy.
Bramlett has been an active member of the Big “I” at the national and state association levels since starting his career as an independent agent in 1975.
Austin, Texas-based Combined Agents of America elected a new management committee for 2009.
The new chairman of the board is Bill Bridges, executive vice president of Duncan, Fraser & Bridges, Pampa, and its new executive vice president is Don Hudson, vice-president of JHC Insurance Agency Inc., Victoria.
In addition to Bridges and Hudson, members of the CAA management team are: President Don C. Jones, president of Crockett Insurance Service, president of Houston-Walker Counties Insurance Service & Crockett Financial Service, Crockett, Texas; Second Vice President Michael T. Siegeler, president of the Siegeler Insurance Agency Inc., Giddings; Secretary Lloyd Eisenrich, president of The Weatherby-Eisenrich Inc., Andrews, with two other locations in Odessa, as Edgmon-Eisenrich Insurance, and in Granbury, as Insco Insurance; Treasurer Jim Norris, CEO of Henry Norris Insurance Agency Inc., Lamesa; and Past Chairman Brent Borgstedte, president of GBS Insurance Agency Inc., Bellaire.
The group also announced it has added its 41st member agency: Mr. Insurance Agency Inc. of San Angelo, Texas.
Robert Sadler, chief financial officer of Bristol West Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Farmers Group Inc., was promoted to president of Bristol West. Sadler joined Bristol West Holdings Inc. in 2001 as senior vice president of marketing. In December 2006, he was appointed chief financial officer.
Prior to joining Bristol West, Sadler served as the chief financial officer of Reliant Insurance from 1996 until 2001 when Reliant was acquired by Bristol West.
Simon Noonan, senior vice president and president of Bristol West Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Farmers Group Inc., was promoted to chief operating officer of Farmers Business Insurance.
Noonan joined Bristol West Holdings in 2002 as senior vice president and was promoted to executive vice president in 2005. He later became COO, as well as president and CEO. In addition, he served as a senior vice president of Farmers Group Inc.
