Thomas Allan has joined Boston-based Richards Robinson Sheppard Insurance as vice president. Allan specializes in construction accounts and has over 35 years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining Richards Robinson Sheppard Insurance, he served as producer and account executive roles Risk Strategies, Willis/HRH and Sheppard Riley Coughlin.

Pennsylvania-based Keystone Insurers Group appointed David C. Keller as vice president for carrier relations. Keller, is a 25-year veteran of the insurance industry, having spent the last four years with Harleysville Insurance Group as relationship manager for KIG. He has also held positions with Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group and The Hartford.

New York insurance agency Haylor, Freyer & Coon Inc. has appointed James Freyer Jr. as executive vice president. Freyer joined the agency in 1984, heading up the Manufactured Housing division as well as MHD Empire Services Corp., a licensed mortgage broker. He is the current chairman of the Northeast Manufactured Housing Association and is actively involved in the industry.

James J. Almy has been promoted to underwriting manager of the Utica National Insurance Group’s Errors & Omissions division. Almy began his career with Utica National in 1994 as a commercial lines underwriting trainee at the company’s Eastern Regional Office (ERO). He was promoted to underwriter in 1995 and senior underwriter in 1997, followed by being named account underwriter in 1999. In 2004 he was promoted to ERO underwriting supervisor, the post he held at the time of his latest promotion.

Tina Carroll, a State Farm agent, has been named president of The Insurance Professionals of Central of Virginia for the group’s 2010 to 2011 year. The group’s other newly elected officers are Vice President Sheila Norris, Secretary Macon Bailey and Treasurer Carmen Ward – all agents for Campbell Insurance in Lynchburg.

Cathy Saporito has joined program administrator NSM Insurance Group as a business development underwriter in the Mid-Atlantic region. She will provide knowledge and leadership on both regional sales and marketing and workers’ compensation underwriting in the Mid-Atlantic region. She has 15 years of experience in the industry and has held senior underwriting positions with a variety of carriers and insurance brokers.

Richard Zarandona has joined AXIS Insurance as executive vice president, AXIS Design Professionals & Environmental based in Berkeley Heights, N.J. Zarandona has nearly 30 years of industry experience and most recently served as head of Arch Insurance Group’s Environmental and Design Professional division for eight years. Prior to joining Arch, he had been vice president and director of Zurich North America’s architects and engineers and environmental consultants liability lines of business.

Professional services firm Towers Watson has named Sean P. McDermott as a director of P&C consulting services. McDermott, who is based in the company’s Philadelphia office, is responsible for expanding the company’s presence in the P&C insurance market. Prior to joining Towers Watson, McDermott was executive vice president and chief actuary for AXIS Insurance, where he coordinated worldwide actuarial services. He has domestic and international experience in all major casualty, professional and property lines of business, and was a member of the AXIS Insurance management team.

Insurance broker Marsh has appointed Sally Roberts as director of U.S. Media Relations. Roberts joins Marsh from Business Insurance, a commercial insurance trade publication, where she most recently was a senior editor. Since joining the magazine in 1992, Roberts has reported on risk management, employee benefits and alternative risk financing. Most recently, Roberts covered the brokerage sector including retail, reinsurance and wholesale brokerage firms.
