1,800+ Independent Agents Using Travelers’ Web-based Automation System

Travelers’ announced that in just a few months since its inception, more than 1,800 agents are using ATLAS3, Travelers’ Internet-based automation system. About 165 agents were piloting the system when ATLAS3 was introduced in February 2001.

The system allows agents to quote and issue policies using Internet technology, enabling user-friendly navigation and imputing with just a point and a click. This saves agents time and improves their profitability–some of the many reasons why agencies are choosing the system.

Because of its Internet browser-based technology, ATLAS3 is less time consuming to use and training costs are reduced. Underwriting and pricing are done automatically, eliminating the need to look up underwriting rules. With pull down menus, the possibility of errors is reduced. ATLAS3 also links to agency comparative raters reducing duplicate keystrokes. Travelers is currently in production with AMS East and is in pilot with additional rating companies.

Other technological advances are on the horizon as well. The industry-leading technology developed for ATLAS3 provides the foundation for the next step in real-time SEMCI, an environment in which agents will be able to quote and issue directly through their agency management system. ATLAS3 is based on the same technology Travelers successfully introduced to small business insurance agents last year with its Issue Express Net automation system.

ATLAS3 also supports Citigroup’s objective of using web technology to improve productivity and reduce operating expenses.

ATLAS3 is one of the several technologies Travelers has available for agents to choose from based on their agencies’ needs. Other technologies available include:

–Single-entry, multiple-company interface (SEMCI) – Travelers has won the Upload Company of the Year and Upload Company of the Year/Implementations from ACORD for its existing batch SEMCI capability.

–Atlas II – Travelers will continue to support the highly successful Atlas II, the prior version of ATLAS3.

–Personal Lines Download – automatically updates an agent’s agency management system with new policy data the next business day. Download capabilities include new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations and reinstatements. Travelers has been named Download Company of the Year by Applied Systems Client Network two of the last three years.
