According to an article distributed by the Associated Press, no fewer than five lawsuits have been brought against Conn.-based insurer Golf Marketing, for failing to pay off the winners in a number of promotional contests.
Golfers who, against all odds, shot a hole-in-one, as well as the contestant who successfully kicked a field goal in the Rose Bowl have allegedly failed to receive their prizes because Golf Marketing has failed to reimburse the sponsors, who purchased insurance from the company to cover the events.
Despite two outstanding judgments for more than $100,000 there’s still been no payment, as the company apparently has no assets. The article states that the insurer is currently facing charges of fraud, unfair trade practices, providing insurance without a license and racketeering in five separate suits totaling over $1 million.
