The Aetna Foundation announced that 15 Hartford-based community organizations will receive funding through its summer grants program, which provides academic and cultural enrichment opportunities to nearly 6,000 area students.
“Aetna has a strong and long-standing commitment to the community,” stated Marilda Gandara, president of the Aetna Foundation. “For 29 years, we have been investing in the future by providing opportunities for enrichment to school age children. We are pleased that this will be another summer of learning possibilities for students in Hartford.”
The Foundation’s grants, totaling $50,000 will go to the following Hartford area organizations:
Capital Region Workforce Development Board – Center City Churches – Channel 3 Kids Camp – Christian Activities Council – ConnectiKids – Ebenezer Temple – Girls Inc. – Greater Hartford YMCA – Hartford Camp Courant – Hartford College for Women – Organized Parents Make a Difference (OPMAD) – San Juan Tutorial – South Arsenal Development Corporation (SAND) – West Indian Foundation, and the YWCA .
“The Aetna Foundation has maintained a strong commitment to Connecticut, Aetna’s home state, for almost 150 years,” said the announcement. Along with Aetna it provided some $2.7 million in funding last year to Connecticut-based organizations with $1.8 million spent in the Hartford area.
