The Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc. has joined with the Coalition for Auto Insurance Competition to urge its members to attend a rally in Trenton next Monday, March 17, and to let legislators know their views on reforming the state’s auto insurance laws.
The full text of the letter is as follows:
Dear PIANJ member:
New Jersey is in an auto insurance crisis and drivers can no longer wait. The time to act is NOW!
New Jersey drivers need your help.
There are two things you can immediately do to bring about more auto insurance choice and competition:
* Attend a rally supporting auto insurance reform on Monday, March 17, 2003 at 12 PM on the front steps of the New Jersey State House located on West State Street in Trenton.

* Call your State Senator to support the New Jersey Auto Insurance Competition and Choice Act (S-1999).
Why should the New Jersey Auto Insurance Competition and Choice Act become law?
Because excessive regulation is the leading culprit behind the problems consumers face when seeking auto insurance coverage.
The Auto Insurance Competition and Choice Act will:
Increase Competition: By creating a friendly business environment, insurers will be less likely to leave the market. Company’s that are here will grow and insurers will be more likely to enter the New Jersey marketplace.
Spur More Choice: With more competition, consumers will enjoy the ability to choose from a large selection of companies.
Improve Consumer Power: Through the combination of both greater competition choice, consumers will have greater power to shop around and select the right coverage for their needs and budget.
