N.Y. State Attorney General to Speak at PIANY MetroRAP

Independent insurance professionals who attend the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc.’s Metropolitan Regional Awareness Program will hear what New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer’s office plans to do to combat insurance fraud. This year’s MetroRAP will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, starting at 8 a.m., at the New York Marriott Brooklyn.

Last year a record of nearly 500 agents, company representatives, exhibitors and other New York insurance industry professionals attended this event. Spitzer’s high profile reputation as a modern-day Eliot Ness, cracking down on the unethical practices of big businesses across the state is expected to increase attendance even more.

“We look forward to hearing the attorney general’s comments on the insurance industry,” said MetroRAP Chair Harvey Leff. “Producers and company representatives will be looking to hear more on Mr. Spitzer’s ideas to help fight the burgeoning insurance fraud issue that is costing honest policyholders millions of dollars.”

Other highlights for this year’s MetroRAP included the presentation of the Company Executive of the Year and the General Agent Executive of the Year awards. The Bernard Kozel and Arthur I. Moll Memorial Scholarships also will be distributed at this time. Education sessions for continuing education credit and a trade show also will be open to participants.
