    The demand for more funding for federal ocupational health and safety programs falls on deaf ears. The federal government has some of the worst violations of safety standards in both their civilian and military workforce. Federal management sells worker safety for more money to pad their careers.

    Even the Department of Labor activily conceals the extent of the safety problem. Because they oversee the federal employees workers compensation program, they can deny the safety problem by denying the benefits to injured federal employees.

    If health insurance companies pay for treatment of the injured federal workers under FEHB, the injuries are not reported as workplace related. So, the government avoids reporting the true extent of the problem.

    When health insurance providers start fighting to have the Labor Department pay for the occupational injuries of federal workers, we might actualy get the government to take workplace safety seriously.
