I am a customer service representative at an agency where Providence Washington was the sole insurer for one of our successful programs in our commercial division. I was very sad to hear this news which came to our office just after the Memorial Day holiday. It is ashame that a company in business for so many years has to shut down its operation. We did not see any indications that this situation with Prov Wash was so serious. In fact, we were writing new business up to the announcement. We are all sad for everyone including for all those who worked so hard at the company. It is our hope that in time, Prov Wash can open its doors again after a reevaluation of this situation and a correction of what brought them to this place. We applaud OneBeacon for coming forward but also know that only a few accounts will be able to “fit” in the category they are offering.
