The truly sad part of this story is that our society forces someone in the Governors situation to live his life as a lie because of his sexual orientation. I am the father of 4 adult men and one of them is gay. I did my share of gay bashing and joke telling until I heard my own sons life story. Growing up a gay man in a home that he feared would turn against him if anyone knew about it. Believe me, no matter what anyone tells you, gay people do not choose this lifestile. In many cases, and I know of one, where it is a fate worse than death. Because of the way society looks upon homosexuality many have turned to suicide. Don’t let anyone ever convince you that being gay is not real. These people have a right to be accepted as human beings just as you and I. Hopefully, someday soon men like the New Jersey Governor will not have to live thier lives as one big lie, or worse, commit suicide because our society is so intolerable.

In my view the issue here is not the Gov’s sexual orientation but his abuse of power. He used his position and influence to bypass standard immigration procedures to move his alleged lover to the front of the line. He then put him on the state payroll to perform duties he was not the least bit qualified to do. The Gov is not a victim here. He made highly self serving, unscrupulous decisions for his own personal gain and violated the public trust. He should have resigned immediately.
