I’m not surprised. MIIX management was so poor that you never knew who was in control (if anyone) and what boneheaded thing they would do next. Should have left all business in MIIX’s rehabilitation a couple of years ago. The managment at the time sold the bureaucrats a bill of goods convincing them they could keep part of the business out of the rehab and make it work. This is the same carrier that had a president who was growing pot in his attic while living with his gay lover.

This is a mess, granted but I don’t seee that the guy living with a gay lover has any relevance to the matter at hand.

Yes, his character has everything to do with this. We expect our agents to be law abiding and have integrity. Being gay is fine but when it puts one in the position of possible conflicts and forced decisions ala our former governor, we have major issues.

What is the impact of the MIIX bankruptcy on phyisicians who are insured through the company and who are facing a malpractice claim?

Being one of those physicians I’m told that the state will decide if my case is one of the cases that they will attempt to settle for up to $1million otherwise it falls back to the state fund of $300,00/case. But the bargaining chip of my policy limits is gone and I could be forced to go to trial for a case that would have been in my best interest to settle(from a business standpoint).
