Young Agents Conference President’s Panel Named

June 2, 2005

A panel of insurance industry leaders will share with young agents their insights on critical issues affecting the future of the independent agency system during the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America’s (the Big “I”) 30th Annual Young Agents Sales & Leadership Conference in September.

The Young Agents Sales & Leadership Conference will be held Sept. 9 -11 at the Hilton New York, in New York City, in conjunction with the Big “I” Convention.

“This event brings together today’s and tomorrow’s industry leaders,” said Big “I” President Thomas Grau. “This is very important to the future of the independent agency system, and I appreciate the chance to meet with the industry’s best and brightest to discuss the critical issues facing young agents.”

Joining Grau on the President’s Panel are:

Ray Thomas, CEO, Zurich North America Small Business;
Tom Van Berkel, president & CEO, The Main Street America Group;
Marita Zuraitis, president, The Citizens and Hanover Insurance Companies;
Bill Purmort, president and chairman of the board, Central Insurance Companies.

“This conference helps young agents increase their sales skills and readies them to become the leaders of our industry in the future,” said Grau. “This meeting is invaluable to young agents and industry leaders alike because both parties bring so much to the table.”

The Sales & Leadership Conference features sessions designed exclusively for young agents including sales training and skills sessions. The event precedes the Big “I” Convention – the showcase of the Big “I” meeting running Sept. 10-12 that features one of the largest exhibit halls in the insurance industry; several guest speakers; a company CEO panel; a wide variety of continuing-education (CE) classes; and many other events.

Online registration for the Big “I” Young Agents Sales & Leadership Conference and 2005 Convention is available at www.independentagent.com.
