We have dealt with Allied for 7 years. We’ve found them to be reputable and do business with all departments. The Bond folks are tough, though.

We have represented Allied since 1985. Their automation is tops as well as their contingency programs. Their commissions are consistent with other leading carriers. We have a 7 digit premium volume and value our Allied appointment as being one of the most important, due to the stability of pricing, underwriting, and overall consistency of the company. Allied would be a valued weapon in any agency’s arsenol of carriers.

I have been working in the Personal Lines industry for the last 30 years predominantly in MidWest and Rocky Mountain States. Prior to Nationwide’s purchase, Allied was in many respects similar to Safeco in underwriting and pricing philosophy. Since then, Nationwide has beefed up Allied’s product management staff to add pricing sophisication to what Allied did. Some of the old time Allied staff think Nationwide wants to become a clone of Progressive. In short, Allied is a financially solid company who believes that there are “no bad risks only bad prices.” The Des Moines area views Allied as active supportor of their local community events. If I were an agent in California or another new state, I would definitely contact them for an appointment.

Allied should consider Louisiana. There have been tremendous strides in Regulatory reform (Comm. Lines deregulated, Pers. Lines 10% Flexband, no more FAIR and Coastal assesments), Legislative reform (NO Punitive General Damages, No Pay/No Play auto, NO Strict Liability) and Judicial Reforms (active campaign for pro-ins. judges for open seats, new Supreme Court make-up). Rate adequacies in almost all lines. Just look on piaoflouisiana.com for the Better Louisiana short video for much more detail.

I am not impressed with Allied. Alot of my clients were Allied – biggest complaint was the substantial increase over a very short time- 2-4 yrs. Claim service is another complaint. If I were an independent agent, it wouldn’t be in my book of business. But I realize….what ever it takes to put food on the table works.

Allied is a strong company and they are easy to work with. Allied is a very reputable company and stand behind their word. I am an agent for Allied in Iowa and would recommend this company over alot of other insurance companies and not because I am an agent for them. I have worked and do work with alot of other ins companies and Allied is my most flexible company. The service is excellent.

As a follow-up to other comments, as a result of the SoCal wildfires, Allied introduced, at no charge, on their P/L packaged accounts, a disappearing deductible up to $5,000 for total losses and immediately applied it to the wildfire claims.

Larry Ziegler must be Allied’s marketing rep. You want to know the truth about Allied, contact one of their former employees or speak with a current one over a couple of cocktails. Truth is they used to be a good, solid carrier prior to becoming Nationwide. Now they are a stock company solely concerned about squeezing every penny out of their customers and agents on the commissions and claims ends. Take a look at the local employee turn over in the offices, the constant changes in underwritters, and their 51% positive rating by their own employees in the 08 annual survey of “Is the company management taking us in the right direction?” Truth be told management is in it only for themselves short term, with their hidden bonus programs. This company is a class action waiting to happen based on their sole reliance on their 3rd party estimating software vs. local pricing. One must ask himself if this is the type of company you want to be associated with and promoting? Surely there are much better options out there like the regionals, which most of these problem companies used to be before they decided to take over the world at their policyholders expense.

Truth….thats quite a statement since you are far from it. I have represented Allied since 1985 and consider them one of the best carriers on the street. I receive no complaints from our agency’s clients with their claims settlements, I know our marketing rep and u/w people very well and I will tell you they have no ill will towards their employer. I have also had dealings with the Pacific Coast Regional Office and he’s as honorable as they come. My agency also is on the receiving end of one of the better contingency programs out there. This is a company that does what it is in business to do…..provide an array of products at very competitive prices while paying out claims on a more than fair basis. I consider myself proud to have had this appointment for so long with a very honorable group of people. Truth’s comments sound like sour grapes to someone who may have had an appointment request denied.

Here is a comment about allied. I own bump performance co. we have ad an allied policy for 1 month and have our premiums paid for the next 3. we had a fire at our shop 2 weeks ago and allied is attempting to deny coverage stating that i do now have a policy. meanwhile my customers car is toast and he wants to know whats gonna happen. They havent even sent an adjuster. All in all, with in 2 months with no action from allied i will be filing a bad faith lawsuit and will do as much damage to allied as possible because of all the problems they have no caused for me.

they did the same thing to me ,took them to court and they said that i have never called them ,so tell them that you will call your insurance commissioner if they do not get back to you ,use email and certified mail as means of communication as phone calls may be ignored, write them constantly ,it is good to ask advice from someone with knowledge ,and do not take them to court because in my opinion they own part of the justice system ,money can buy anything and they have plenty of them

they destroyed my life instead of rebuilding my home they put a lien on it ,took them to court they bought everybody including my own lawyers i am afraid, they managed to keep mouth shout in court with the help of someone i cannot say ,they destroyed all evidence of the instating policy documents ,they changed the year of when the home was build so they could lower the coverage on the home even though the law is requiring the to match it with the county and previous insurance records ,since they new that all my documents got destroyed in the fire ,they hire liars and low lifes if they could save a buck ,home insurance with them forced me into years of cruel missery i wish for no one else,it would have been far better worth not having insurance at all.
