I only hope this will be quickly corrected by the appellate court. Who will supply the law enforcement agencies of the jurisdictions suing these manufacturers into bankruptcy?

Speaking of law enforcemnt, why is it the manufacturers job to find and punish those who break the law? If the city thinks dealers are \”supplying the highly profitable underground market,\” shouldn\’t they prosecute or revoke the license?

How is a lawsuit that does not seek monetary damages going to drive the manufacturers into bankruptcy? Is it that they won\’t be profitable without relying on criminals buying handguns?

About as profitable as drunk drivers that buy cars. Are you going to hold Ford liable for their customers that break the law?

Go after the real criminals (like the people selling the guns underground to criminals) and stop pointless, resource wasting lawsuits against legitimate manufacturers that have committed absolutely no crime.

Dan, with all due respect, that\’s an idiotic thing to say.

These lawsuits are about nuisance. Not nuisance value for the Plaintiffs, but nuisance cost for the Defendants. Defending these baseless lawsuits (which have yet to be sucessful in any jurisdiction) has cost the industry plenty in legal costs. This is America and unlike the European system, the loser does not have to pay the winner\’s expenses. If you don\’t believe me, look at what Smith & Wesson had to do to stay in business a few years ago.

I agree with you Ned. I do need to add this little bitty thing…guns don\’t kill people. Husbands that come home from work early do. Will people start suing knife manufacturer if their kitchen knife is use to murder someone? What about rope makers? There is a level of personal resoponsibility, and if someone wants to sue another person they should be responsible for their court costs if they lose. But that may put a whole lot of liars…I mean lawyers out of work. Better not say that. Anyway, you are correct. By the way, Merry Christmas.
