AIG Names N. Y. Senior Vice President, Communications

The American International Group, Inc. (AIG) today announced that Nicholas J. Ashooh will join AIG in September as senior vice president, Communications. Ashooh succeeds John T. Wooster, Jr. who had filled that role on a temporary basis since year-end 2005, and earlier had been AIG vice president, Communications from 1989 to 2001.

Most recently, Ashooh was vice president, Corporate Communications at American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio, a role he assumed in 2000. Prior to that, he was vice president, Public Affairs and Corporate Communications at Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. in Syracuse, N.Y. for eight years. Earlier, he held the position of vice president, Corporate Communications at Paramount Communications, Inc. and before that was director, Corporate Communications at Public Service of New Hampshire from 1978 to 1990.

A native of Manchester, N.H., Ashooh will report directly to AIG President and Chief Executive Officer Martin J. Sullivan. His new responsibilities will include corporate and employee communications, publications, advertising and global branding, media and public relations, marketing communications and the AIG archives. He will also have management responsibility for communications policies, programs and activities undertaken by AIG subsidiaries domestically and overseas.

“Nick has an outstanding background and is an experienced communications professional. We are delighted he has agreed to join AIG in this important position,” Sullivan said.
