Conn. Municipal Insurer Names Wollschlager

Bruce A. Wollschlager has assumed the roles of president and chief executive officer at the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency, a program of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities that provides workers’ compensation and liability, auto and property coverage to a 373 Connecticut municipalities and school districts.

Wollschlager joined CIRMA in September 2001 as its chief operating officer. Since his start, premiums have grown 408 percent, members’ equity 42 percent, and total assets 115 percent, according to CIRMA officials. Today CIRMA has $186 million in assets, $70 million in premiums, and $44 million in members’ equity.

Before joining CIRMA, he was general counsel and vice president for the Blue Ridge Insurance Co. in Simsbury, and has held executive positions at the Middlesex Mutual Assurance, Shelby Insurance, and Sentry Insurance companies. He has served on the boards of NLC-MIC, Connecticut Fair Plan, the Connecticut Insurance Guarantee Association, and the Insurance Association of Connecticut.
