“Immediately afterward, 20 of the 21 passengers reported injuries […] plus eight others who were not on the bus.”

To the people who complain about insurance companies conducting fraud investigations and think they cross the line sometimes:

    This is why!

21 passengers, let’s say we make it 22 people indluding the driver of the bus, of course then there’s the driver of the at fault car; 23. We’re still missing 6 people. What, they got whiplash from “rubbernecking” as they drove by? Loss of consortium because after the injuried people couldn’t “perform” that evening?

Yo, we sue at the drop of the hat!
Or the crash of a bus!
Whether we’re on it or not.
Reminds me of the old merry prankster saying! You’re either on the bus or you’re off the bus.

I wrote a bar in South Philly years ago. A customer found a piece of glass in her drink. She had not taken one sip yet and reported the offending object to the barkeep. He apologized profusely and offered to spring for a few free drinks.
    Her reply, “No! I’m suing.”

“The insurance company received and paid bills for medical treatments that never took place and several pursued litigation against the insurance company.”

So wait… after they were paid for medical bills that didn’t happen they sued because they didn’t get enough money for imaginary bills? That’s wonderful! That takes a whole special kind of kahoneys.

That’s when the regular patrons should have dealt some “street justice” to this woman, pointing out the downside to her ridiculous behavior.

If the physiology of the impact doesn’t support the alleged BI’s, I have to wonder why Lancer paid anything. Sounds funny that all 21 people were transported to the hospital for treatment. The sleaze ball injury attorney represening these idiots and the medical providers should be investigated for fraud as well. As for the 8 piece of human garbage who weren’t even on the bus, they should be beaten with a large stick.

Hold on a second…. just because lawyers were involved doesn’t *automatically* mean they were in on it, too.

Let’s not forget that the attorneys weren’t there at the time of the crash. They’re at their clients’ mercy! And have to rely on those dirtbag clients to tell them the truth. A lawyer is not a doctor; or do you want them to practice medicine, too?

I used to handle claims in this area as a special investigator and regular BI adjuster. I handled claims in all 50 states. That area is by far the worst in the US. Fraud is completely out of control. I have never seen so many staged accidents and bogus injury claims. The sad thing is that most companies do very little to actually fight this and just pass it on to the honest, hardworking, premium paying customers in the form of even higher premiums. Before I was an SIU adjuster I was a regular adjuster getting auto accidents from most of the 50 states. I can not remember the exact numbers but if I received 10 claims in NJ or Philly area approximately 9 would have injuries claimed. In most other states it would be like 1 to 3 out of 10 would have injuries. Noonie…I know there are good attorneys, chiros, etc out there and we need them to set things right. However, to many are as much in this fraud as their dirt bag clients. They are just harder to convict.
