well, 96 percent drop! wonder how many other accidents at other lights would not have been caused, only if people stop trying to beat the light. apparently it has provided good revenue for the city. not only do you clean up on number of accidents but apparently money that can be put to good use throughout the city.

My husband had the ‘good fortune’ of receiving one of these type citations in Georgia, so we were privy to the pictures and video, neither of which provided proof of who was driving the vehicle. Feedback from friends in other states with similar setups provided food for thought. One of these states is considering doing away with their process, as they are experiencing difficulties in proving who was operating the vehicle. The registered owner gets the citation, but, were they operating the vehicle at the time of the occurrence-? We were advised to go to court on that premise. However, due to my husband’s travel schedule, went ahead and paid the freight. (He WAS operating the vehicle, but the way.) On the deterrent side of the coin, it DID stop him from running a ‘pink’ light shortly thereafter.

well, to me, it still shows that if you loan your vehicle out – your are still responsible. afterall, if your friend borrowed your vehicle and got into an accident, does not your, again, your insurance pay? in germany they have the same thing and they use it not only on stop lights but speeders as well. points are assessed to the vehicle for these. after so many of those points, you have to sell that particular vehicle. so this causes you an annoyance to get a replacement vehicle. after all, you caused an annoyance by not following the road rules and signs. you could have caused an accident and hurt or possibly killed someone. i was driving to work today was at a red light and it turned green. i went straight, and in the opposite side of the street was an suv sitting on a red arrow ready to make a left hand turn. as soon as i passed the intersection, this guy made the turn on a RED arrow. now this takes the cake and you wonder why we need these cameras. afterall, don’t you think that this helps not only decreasing accidents but gives the city revenue, which can mean less taxes!
