FedEx to Appeal Mass. Penalty over Classification of Drivers

    I’d have to agree with FedEx’s viewpoint. If there had been any problems with this, it should have been caught by the state several years ago.

    Also with the way the independent sub-contractor law reads, I’d be very leery as a General Contractor (or Home builder) working in the state. Lets say my business is to build houses. If I hire an outside carpenter to help with the framing, by definition the carpenter is under my direction and control, and thus should be considered an employee?

    Correct me if I read that wrong.
