NJ is probably still a mess. When I lived there I started out paying $700+ for liability only insurance on my first car. One ticket for what would be a local non-reported violation in other states got me a $100 increase. One accident doubled my insurance to $1600+, still without collision. When that car was creamed by someone else, I got squat. When I got new car and had to carry collision, my insurance doubled again to $3200+. Even after three years when I qualified for lower rates, my carrier refused to give me a break; instead telling me I had to wait for the policy to expire. Ultimately I got cheaper coverage elsewhere, but it was still $2000. I live in PA now and for $3200 could insure 4 to 6 cars. I also lived in Michigan and it was even cheaoer there.
I’d love to know why NJ is so screwed up. It’s a great state to live in, but unless you’re Bon Jovi, I don’t see how you can afford it.
What did the large indupoendatn agenceis do about this? Did they have to provide a quote from all their 30 companies?
What a joke, was it really like that?
Someone from NJ let me know, im interested
