Mass. Insurance Department Launches Agent Finder Web Site

Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner Nonnie S. Burnes today unveiled AgentFinder, a Division of Insurance Web site designed to make it easier for Massachusetts consumers to find insurance agents and insurance products in the state.

AgentFinder connects consumers to insurance professionals based on criteria provided by the consumer and is available at http://www.agentfinder.doi.state.ma.us.

“Shopping for insurance can be a hassle. Our goal at the division is to cut through the confusion and give consumers the tools they need to make informed choices,” said Burnes.

AgentFinder allows consumers to generate a list of agents from a database of the state’s 70,000 licensed insurance professionals based on geographic, product and company specifications. The database includes professionals and companies that sell products ranging from automobile, homeowners, life or health insurance to the more specialized lines of pet, travel and wedding insurance.

Consumers can perform a general agent search by entering their zip code and selecting between auto, homeowners, life or health insurance. They can also conduct a detailed agent search by entering the agent’s name, business location, company or product.

The site is not the only tool the state plans for helping consumers shop.

“AgentFinder will work in conjunction with the web site we will launch next month to help consumers shop around for the best managed competition auto insurance premiums,” said Burnes. “These two resources promise to give consumers the information they need to make the right insurance decisions for themselves and their families.”
