Child-proofing anything also makes it difficult for older folks to use the item.

Of course, lighters like this are mostly used by smokers; and according to all the the lawsuits and settlements, there are NO old smokers…. So child-proof away.

Society’s liberty and freedom dies/disappears in direct proportion to the number of persons unwilling to accept personal responsibility; and it disappears faster when multiplied by the desire to find a “deep pocket.” It’s not always someone else’s fault.

Ms. Phillips failed to properly supervise her children and now the lighter company has to write her a check. Maybe the justice is that after a 15 year lawsuit her lawyers will take everything. Oh wait, that will just encourage them to file more of these frivilous lawsuits! THERE IS NO JUSTICE !!!

A lot of smokers geet anoyed with the chiild safety tab on lighteer so they simple pull it off. The lighter still functions and the child safety device is now comprimised.

I wonder if the company ever looked at product tampering by the mother.

BUT of course in America no one ever does anything wrong and there is always an insurance company ready to shell out some $$$.

    You gotta love those lawyers.

Isn’t it about time the the 19 year old surviving son files a lawsuit against the tobacco company for lung damage his mother inflicted on him as a youth??
