What a joke! I work in Manhattan and handled claims for commerical and residential real estate. There’s nothing wrong with the laws on the books requiring safety inspections. There has always been an enforcment code. What’s changed that suddenly in the year 2008 New York becomes “enlightened” to FINALLY enforce safe and reliable elevators? These clowns have been asleep at the swith for so long, they don’t even realize this has been a problem since the early 1900’s.
Good comment, Dread. They can’t seem to enforce the laws now, so how is it going to change? Take the elevators out of service & make ’em use the stairs! Would improve their health too, but probably would sue becaouse of it.
