I wonder if this bill prohibits the Auto Body Association of Connecticut from giving out any ‘advice’ on which body shops to use–in the rare event that any consumer contacts them!
We all know that Blumenthal is much too clever to have to seek advice or counsel on which body shop to use…but he isn’t much like the typical Nutmegger, is he?

I’d be willing to bet you are one of the first preople to whine about increased premiums on your insurance (you do have it, correct?) without a clue of how it actually works. Oh, and quit shouting.

    Paul:
You have some issues man. The public is clueless when it comes to choosing a repair facility and should welcome an insurance company’s recommendation. As long as the repairs are up to industry standards and are guaranteed, the consumer shouldn’t care who does it. Besides, most body shops do little more than replace parts anymore. I’ve dealt with physical damage claims for 35 years and have NEVER worked for an insurance company that did anything improper regarding auto repairs.

I wonder if the shops that support this legislation charge the insurance companies more than they would a cash customer? My quess is yes.

Does Paul B even know that insurance companies are prohibited by existing CT legislation from forcing their policyholders to follow their recommendations? Why is it necessary to legislate that insurance companies can’t even make a recommendation? This is lunacy. This will result in higher prices paid by consumers since it will remove any semblance of ‘group buying power’ that helps keep the auto body shops from gouging the ‘ignorant’ public.

There are a lot of good bodyshops that insurance companys do not allow on there drp list they chose one shop in a area and no one else gets to do work for that insurance company ,that takes away the free market, competition among the good shops for the work would lower prices, insurance companys control prices by having a drp system and and shuting out other shops that is just wrong
