that if we comducted random, unnanounced mandatory police searches of every home in the nation, arrests would be up 9,999,999%.

I personally love it when police create huge traffic jams, stop every single car, assume every person is breaking the law, treat me like I’m a criminal, so they can appease MADD and generate revenue through additional insurance, license suspensions, vehicle equipment citations etc.

They’re doing the same thing here in IL. My wife and I are now afraid to go over to our friends home for dinner and have a glass of wine. The officers tell us they’re stopping people who aren’t wearing their seat belts. Bulls*it. They’re looking for DUI’s. Simply put; we stay home on Friday and Saturday evenings now.

Coming to a town near you. Papers please!!

And I thought unreasonable searches without cause were afforded us under the constitution.

Oh well, it’s for safety and if it saves one life while appeasing MADD, who cares about the constitution.

Anti alcohol lobbyists. All drinkers did not kill their loved one. Why are you being punished like you did?

I’m w/you matt and agree w/your analysis. I find it unacceptable that cops can bring traffic to a grinding halt for no legitimate reason. If they don’t have probable cause, they shouldn’t be out there fishing for people. The people they screw with these checkpoints aren’t the ones causing problems. They ought to ask the courts why repeat offenders are continually released to get back on the road.
