    Mmmmm, turkey salvage!

Any chance a responding firefighter threw any jerk seasoning to douse the flames?

I assume that all the turkeys died in the fire since there were no injuries…

The only things that get counted in casualty figures are actual people — in other words humans, dogs, cats, dogs, and more dogs. If a dog mauls a child, it’s a shame, but if a child shoots a dog, it’s murder.

Please keep up on your reporting standards!

Didn’t ACORN sign up lots of new voters in Pennsylvania in 2006 and 2008. How will these fire deaths effect the Democrats in 2010?

You, sir, are just a one trick pony! Never miss a chance to get on your soapbox, do you? Can’t think of anything remotely related to insurance, huh? Here’s an idea, why don’t you get back to your perch on the street corner or find something better to do than rail about your unhappiness over who is in office.

Since I’m going to be out of a job in 2 weeks, does anyone know the whereabouts of said burnt turkeys? I understand that the salvage is “not fit for human consumption” by the FDA, but I thought it might make a better food supply than the garbage hopper behind the company cafeteria. The line there is too long and the folks are real violent. I guess after a few weeks of starving, we are no longer human. Hey, maybe that’s what the FDA means: it’s code for “I wouldn’t eat it, but we could let the non-humans among us have a bite!”
You folks try to remember the ones that have gone before you and say a little prayer or give a few bucks to the less fortunate. Now say in your hearts “But for the grace of God …”
Alas, poor Turkey. I knew him well.
Good bye my fellow insurance brothers and sisters. I have enjoyed the many years of thought provoking comments and laughs. So, if you see my reflection in the face of the homeless, recall the times when we worked together with joy and let no one’s sorrow cloud the good that we did and will continue to do.
I hope to see you in the next life.

10,000 turkeys in a 300 foot long building? That’s animal abuse, this fire merely prematurely ended their misery.

I eat meat, but I would rather the meat I eat be treated humanely while it is still alive.

I know having so many out there in small buildings is terrible, but I’m eating them as fast as I can.

I’m just a thinker on this, but I tend to believe that if all animals were treated humanely, as you suggest, meat would be way too expensive, and there wouldn’t be enough to go around. It’s a conundrum for sure.

I’m for treating humans humanely and animals, um, animally?

But seriously, with the new administration, this event could force a major shift in the treatment of turkeys in this country. It is the turkey equivalent to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. Be prepared for turkeys everywhere to unite in protest and demand better conditions. Of course, I’m sure our congress with the backing of the new president will immediately hold hearings and come up with numerous regulations that will prevent all turkey deaths by fire going forward. Then the turkeys will eventually unionize and win health benefits, family leave, subsidized foodstock, and equity/ownership in the barns. US farmers will end up losing business to overseas turkey farms where they are treated like, well, turkeys. Turkeys in the US will end up with a level of political power second only to dogs and they will become a federally protected species. Congress will have no choice but to outlaw poultry as a food item and Americans will begin to eat broccoli as the main course for Thanksgiving.

Clearly this is a sign of the Apocalypse. And it’s all Obama’s fault!

A voter for Obama is still a voter. And a winner at that. Extending free medical care and housing to this flock is required under the new Obama constitution.
What do you call 10,000 Obama voters that live in a 300 ft barn?
    Turkeys

I can virtually guarantee there is some edible meat in there – Let some homeless people pick it clean. Plus after the fire went out its cold in PA, so it would stay fresh.

Im not even joking, Im sure most of the meat is good.

Or maybe im just so darn hungry right now.

Besides the issue of voters rights there is the problem of eating the birds which were not plucked, gutted, and cleaned before roasting. Also, civilized animals do not eat their own kind. This means only the 48% that voted correctly would benefit and that is just not going to be allowed with the new administration’s micromanagement of individual American’s affairs.
