It should be banned in all States. I imagine it is almost impossible to enforce this law but it still a good idea. We have all been behind the person texting or talking on their phone. Going slower than the speed limit, drifting all over the lane, causing traffic problems. You are driving a car not a phone booth or computer. Save the texts and phone calls for your house or work.

Got to give credit to Mr. Steinhaus who freely admits this is legislating common sense. Fortunately drivers in Dutchess County may still don a blind fold and play pin the tail on the donkey while driving.

    Damned nanny-state!

Are we going to examine every behavior, stupid or otherwise, and regulate or ban it?

Why not amend the DWAI – Drivign While Ability Impaired – statutes to include texting and other such activites. No new laws, just a beefing up of existing ones. It doesn’t matter why your ability was impaired, it just was.

Next, flatulence whilst driving will be regulated due to the reduction of comfort level in the car or truck. Better yet, mandate that all vehicles must have air purification systems that would scrub the offending odor before it inhibits the driver’s ability.

Personally, I think virtually all texting and cellphone conversations at any time are more likely than not just nonsense.
