, then they are idiots for not informing the employees. What would have made this even better is if she had a gun or martial arts training and actually killed the gunman defending herself and her employer. What would they say then?

It is great to mimic emergencies for training, but not like this. What were they thinking?……(They weren’t).

Without seeing any other details this staged armed robbery bit sounds like one of the most colossolly stupid ideas ever.

If they are so worried about armed robberies hire security!

Baxtor: That scenario would have been truly tragic.

I see the point of the drill but in a situation like this, you have to tell the employees! There are too many real situations that end poorly. (And I tend to side with the employer) but this is a bit much. Of course, she does have to show that she really was traumatized.

Any idea as to the “goal” of this training? The risk manager of this company needs to be shown the door…..

Good Lord I can’t imagine an employer “testing” its employees in such a manner. It’s not like these employees are meant to be police or militarily trained. Going over a possible scenario is one thing, actually acting one out… unannounced no less, is quite another.

there is merit in training for this kind of situation. but first of all, why would you tell anyone it’s a drill? then you know they might act differently. but in reality, this should have been drilled and excercises with all eyes to see/understand things to do. when we have drills onboard the boat, at the moment of the actual drill, they will let us know. not prior! the officers want to see that we respond appropriately when we have the real thing.

this definately could have been better handled.
