A 30-year-old New Hampshire man is going to prison for 11 years for setting a fire in Yarmouth, Maine, that destroyed 26 businesses.
Everett Stickney of Exeter was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Portland.
Stickney pleaded guilty in June to arson and firearms charges.
Investigators say Stickney set a Jan. 2 fire that destroyed a three-story commercial building on Route 1, displacing 26 businesses. Damage was estimated at between $2 million and $4 million.
Another fire was set in York the next day.
The Portland Press Herald says Stickney’s lawyer asked that Stickney be sentenced to a federal prison where he could receive treatment for his mental illness and drug addiction.
