    1) NY GAL…I would have strung up my son by his heels if he had ever done anything like this; I think this is despicable, certainly unlawful, and I hope they prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law. Terrible behavior! It doesn’t matter if the house was vacant or not. “If it ain’t yours, don’t take it; don’t destroy it.” In any event, there’s no clear evidence it was actually VACANT; I assumed from reading the original article the folks were gone for the weekend. Once a year, I go on vacation for a week. That doesn’t mean my house is “vacant”. Temporarily “unoccupied” perhaps, but not “vacant”! My house has been “tossed” more than once when I was away for a weekend. I’ve never made an insurance claim. However both times, it was unsetelling! I lost some stuff, but the worst of it was walking into my home which was in total disarray on my return. Not damage, thank goodness, but total disarry. I felt it was “close to rape” … if it hasn’t happened to you, you won’t understand how a theft (and someone who has gone through your underwear drawer, as well) is a violation of your personal space.

    2) Yes, certainly this is a post to keep us from opposing national health insurance from being rammed down our gullets. Get a grip out there! What’s important is important!

The only way I would find this even funnier is if it were YOUR house, Matt!

But seriously, it’s neandertholic comments like this– the whole ‘boys will be boys’ attitude — that encourage this sort of behavior in the first place. And who pays the $200K? Everyone else thru higher rates.

Not so funny now, is it?

This happened near where I live and the whole community is in an uproar over it. They said that the kids don’t feel an remorse for destrying this house. A bunch of rich brats with too much time on their hands. Mine are too little but so help me if my kids ever do anything like this, they’ll be praying to go to jail when I’m done.

Oh please, this is very funny. More funny for those of us who did similar things and DIDN’T get caught. That’s the key. As teenagers we all did stupid things. Getting away with it was half the fun! If you didn’t do these types of things as a kid you were either very sheltered or a wus.

The kids got busted, they should be prosecuted. As for teaching them to be criminial, few parents do that. You are taking it to an extreme. Teach your kids to do right and hope they do. If they don’t, there are consequences.

By the way, when you were a teen, did you ever take the car without having a license, have a few drinks when you weren’t legal, drink & drive… If you say no, you are a liar and, by your standards, a criminal.

Actually, I can say No, and I’m not a liar. I had more than respect for my parents. I feared the conseqences and so I didn’t do wrong. I’m lucky enough to say I was raised right. I hope that my good sense has passed to my kids. The whole “kids will be kids” mentality goes out the window when they start crossing into criminal behavior. And they don’t seem to realize that they could have ruined their chances at getting into a good college or making a decent life for themselves because of this. It is very serious and would still be serious even if they hadn’t been caught.

    Jen,

In answer to your question, this happened near where I live so we got more details. There were apparently large holes in a lot of the walls, broken windows, destroyed appliances, fixtures ripped from the walls etc. It adds up when you consider that it was a 1.7 million dollar home and all the materials were top of the line.

I don’t think anyone here is saying what these teens did was right, but c’mon! How can you ever be 100% sure that your own kids would never do something like this? Because you raised them right?? I’m amazed that grown people are getting up in arms and taking potshots at each other about something like this. If my son ever was involved in such a thing, sitting down would not be an option for some time. It is wrong, but…. kids will do crazy @#$% just like everyone else. Kids have been holding parties in other people’s houses since time immortal. Doesn’t make it right, just a fact. Best solution is to try from the beginning to teach them to respect other people’s property. Just think, if they’d partied their behinds off, kept the joint clean, (or at least didn’t go around destroying stuff around the house) and gone about their business, we’d never heard a thing about this.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. What does Bush have to do with partying teens in Albany? This implication here is that the teens should not be held accountable for their behavior (yet, I’d bet you’re also against parental consent for abortions for those very same teens who grew up under Bush’s presidency.) This is just typical uninformed left-wing bombast, devoid of any logical thought process, ideologically motivated, and designed to remove responsibility from the perpetrators. Think before you post a message, especially one as nonsensical as that one.

There’s no indication they misbehaved during the Bush era. This all transpired on Obama’s watch. It was clearly change they could believe in.

Actually, it probably had less to do with the president and more to do with their guv’ner (you pick which one or ones) and his moral values.

it does not matter, kids should have not entered into this building. i bet it was locked and all. i am suprised that this individual did not have a security system, because i bet this had to be an expensive house to have $200k damage and it not be a total loss.

i hope that the kids learn a valuable lesson and work their tails off to help payback the damage they caused. probably the unfortunate thing is that the parents will have to help w/the payments due back. roughly, that puts the $2400 @teen to payback. time for the kids to cut lawns, rake leaves and many other items to help out for restitution. the kids knew it was wrong.

Room tempertature where those of us with the more intellectual minds stay is 76 degress celcius last time I checked. The average intellect of someone smart enough to vote for Obama is higher than 76 degrees celcius so what in the hell are you talking about. Global warming has fried the neocin brain and now climate change resulting from global warming is causing another ice age and the neocins brains have frozen like old donosaurs. You republicans are just mad as hell because President Obama stuck you with free health care and legalized illegals,

I know my goose is cooked when the internal temperature reaches 76 degrees celsius (170 or so fahrenheit). Not sure I’d be comfortable in a room that hot. Nor do I think I’d be able to pay the heating cost, unless maybe the gubmint would pay for it. Oh yeah!

By the way, any IQ below 80 is classified as either “borderline” or “intellectual deficient,” both of which are below “low average” and represent achievement in the bottom 10 percent of all IQ scores. (That means nine out of 10 do better, in case that was confusing.)
